Floppy drive constantly trying to run.

By the sounds of what I've read, I'm still one of the few people that uses my floppy disc drive.

Recently, after I've saved something to disc, and taken the disc out of the drive, I can hear what appears to be the drive still running and searching. I have learnt that a reboot stops this behaviour, but can I prevent this from happening without having to reboot, which if your in the middle of something can be pain?

Hmm, going back some time to when I used floppies regularly, I recall this problem if I saved a document to the disk then carried on working on it; the pc would continue to access the disk, or try to if it had been ejected.

Try saving to disk, close the application, then eject the disk?

I've done that, but as I'm writing this its going nuts, and the disc is next to the monitor!

Check out your virus checker and look for the circumstances when it checks the floppy drive.

I did think of that, but nothing is scheduled to run.
