Flight simulator 2002

When I open the task manager and look at performance, the little graph shows that the Flightsim is using 100% of the CPU resources. My pc is AMD 2200+xp with 512mb ddr running XP pro.
I've tried it with all the background stuff shut down.
My local pc shop thinks this isn't normal, any suggestions/advice please?

thanks,

John

i have a 1.8 p4 512ddr and just checked with my copy.started up the game loaded a flight and alt+tab then checked task manager.

260 mb memory used and 2 to 4% cpu time

i would say when the games actually running it will use most of the cpu time but it should not read 100% when minimised.

When you say minimised do you mean a smaller window or right onto the task bar?

With the simulator on the taskbar only I get a CPU usage of 18%, with a small window I get 100% and also 100% using full screen.

260 mb memory used and 2 to 4% cpu time:minimised to task bar.

274 mb memory used and 100% cpu time:running in small window.

its quite a cpu intensive game, more so than graphics card.its normal i think.

The reason why I posed the question is because I frequently play online with a friend in Canada, his CPU usage hovers around the 50% mark, his spec is AMD 2400 with 512 ddr and a radeon 9600.
Obviously a better spec pc but I wouldn't have thought it would make that much difference.
