Flicking screen

  jim63 07:24 15 Sep 2007

Have looked in other posts but nothing to help.
My friend had a lighting strike and a lot of equipent was damaged . His computer was damaged but he was able to get desktop fixed okay but his screen flickers. It is not a flat screen. Was told screen was damaged as well. Every thing is fine other than it flickers. Could something be loose or is it really on it's way out.

Most probably the monitor is damaged, in fact I am surprised it works at all. Now is the time for your friend to get an up-to-date monitor, they are not so expensive nowadays, and probably cheaper than trying to get damaged monitor repaired.

Is the refresh rate set to 85MHz (the setting most likely to suit the vast majority of users without suffering flicker)?

Many people use what is stated to be the optimal setting - in fact this is only 60MHz and too low for a CRT monitor.
