Hi all

Just changing a LiteOn DVD rom to Sony DVD rom. Do I need to remove LiteOn drivers before fitting the new model.
All comments welcome

Hi, no, but it won't hurt to remove them if not needed. But, why replace rather than add to..if you have a spare bay and the LiteOn is still working?

Thanks technotiger. Sorry the Liteon refuses to read, making dvd to dvd not possible. Will fit the new Sony and take apart the Liteon for my own piece of mind.

OK, fair'nuff ... don't forget Green Tick.

Cheers

The only driver required with optical drives is the basic Windows CDROM driver which is installed automatically - you may be thinking of firmware.

Just swapping over the leads from the old to the new should be sufficient and then reboot.

If you wish to use both drives, one will have to be jumpered as Master and the other as Slave, otherwise only one will be recognised.
