Fitting an additional DVD drive.

I would like to fit an additional DVD drive in my
6 month old HP 7755m PC. I have looked in the PC case and cannot see any spare SATA power connectors although there is 2 or 3 standard power plugs. Can one of these plugs be converted by way of an adaptor plug? Or is there another way to connect the drive.

Is it a SATA one you want? Could you not fit a standard IDE one and use a molex power connector or do you not have an IDE connector on your motherboard?

I have already purchased a Lite-on SATA drive,
mainly because the existing drives already fitted
are SATA. Because of these I didn't foresee a problem. HP's Upgrading Guide states thare are 2 free SATA connectors on the Mobo. Would one of these be a power socket?

You could if you have an ide connection on the mobo use an adaptor click here

The motherboard is P5LP-LE(Leonite-GL8E) Sorry I don't much details about it except there are 4 SATA connector sockets (2 used by the existing HDD & DVD drives)

My apologies ive misread the thread.

Looks like your board has an ide connection,so the adaptor can be used.

Though im sure you can get a splitter for the power..

I have just had a response from an e-mail to HP, and they state "you need to buy an additional SATA power connector from your nearest HP reseller" but they don't say where to plug it in.
I think your idea about the adaptor looks good so will look into that further.

Its the SATA power adaptor you need to convert a molex to a SATA power connection.
