hey out there,

just got a new laptop and i need to transfer around 40gigs worth of work from my current pc.

i can connect them using a cross-over cable plugged into the network ports (they've got 100mb interfaces) but i remebered a handy thing from my mac days where you can enable somehting called 'firewire disk mode'.

this basically allows you to mount the laptop as an external firewire disk and copy too is as a high speed disk.

is there something simular to this in pc land? both machines will be running xp pro.

cheers,

jake

p.s. if anyone else has a handy idea on how to shift this ammount of data quicky, please feel free to chip in!
