firewalls and anti virus

i recently installed zone alarm as i kept getting problems with my cookies being turned off and being paranoid that i am thought some one was attacking my pc just for the hell of it.my question is..i also have avg anti virus running as well.do i really need both running at the same time. my os is me..thank you..

I have Nortons anti virus and there firewall It is always on and I never turn it off especially as I am on broadband as well. For piece of mind keep them on all the time you are online.

Firewall and antivirus are two different things, though related. You definitely need antivirus. A firewall is essential for always-on connections, less so for dial up.
