Firewall - Download or buy?

I have just got BT Broadband and am going to install a firewall.Is it better to buy one or is downloading one just as effective? i am using PC Cillin as an antivirus,this came with my computer which is Windows ME

I use Zone Alarm and have done for the past three years. Quite happy with it so far.

Go for AVG Anti virus by Grisoft. That is free also with regular updates.

This months PC Advisor has mccafee personal firewall free on the front cover.

My preferred antivirus is avast click here also free

What version of PC-Cillin are you using? PC-Cillin Internet Security 2004 onwards includes a firewall.

click here for a good review. The of the high rated ones, the Lab Winner ZoneAlarm and Kerio one of the recommended products do a free version for non profit home users. When the best come free why pay ?

I am using PC Cillin 2000. Can I get 2004 version free or would I have to buy it
