I've used Watchguard, CISCO and all kinds of devices, and Smoothwall Corporate Server and home-rolled Linux based firewalls.
Smoothwall 2008 is interesting, but I have never used the SmoothZap module for email scanning with an Exchange server bound to a mail hosts IP addresses.
Documentation seems to suggest that POP and SMTP scanning is OK as far as SmoothZap is concerned, but I'm not reconfiguring an Exchange 2003 Server to run on an SMTP connector...
Most of the firewall appliances that also feature mail scanning are for larger SME's, and many of my clients are only running smaller networks of 10 - 50 users, which often falls below the practical cost effective threshold of many of those devices.
Thoughts anyone ?
