Hi there using firefox and happy, but for some reason it will not update to new version ie 1.0.3, I know I could download it independantly but just wondering if anyone knows why it won't do it by using update.
Also I do have it configured to automatically check for updates
Using XP Home SP2

You'll be better to download 1.0.3, uninstall your earlier version and then install 1.0.3

Your configuration, bookmarks etc will be retained as they are kept in a separate folder.

It was probably due to the fact that 1.0.3 delivers some problems with certain Extensions, including Directory Search (you may have seen the odd thread on this subject).

Is the "Allow web sites to install software" box checked in Tools\Options\Web Features?

do you NEED to update to 1.0.3? I did just that a while back, and for some absolutely UNKNOWN reason, all went t**s up this morning! Firefox would NOT load, and when I looked at task window/performance, CPU usage was 100%! Firefox just kept trying to load but wouldn't. I went to add/remove and discovered TWO editions, 1.0 and 1.0.3; deleted 1.0 and still it wouldn't open... Then decided oh damn, may as well delete 1.0.3 as well (after I'd located my bookmarks and imported them into explorer). Deleted 1.0.3 also, from add/remove, but... in programs folder FIREFOX WAS STILL THERE!!! Sooo, clicked firefox setup, it re-loaded it and alls been fine since. Dunno WHAT happened, and I couldn't see what made 1.0.3 better than 1.0 either. Think I'll stay with this edition!

yes you do need to update. Mozilla annouced the other day that previous versions are susceptible to a rather nasty security hole whick 0.3 fixes.
