Just updated to the latest Firefox today and I cleaned installed it with Crap Cleaner and downloaded the tab addon featured as given by smy13. So when I open a new tab it says "Untitled"

If you right click on the tabs bar (or even in a link on a page) and choose New tab, an Untitled tab will be available.

Also check the Tabs configuration settings (from Tools>Options).
