Firefox install help

  Iceman244 09:57 02 Feb 2011

I have installed Mozilla Firefox on my laptop as I have been told it is a much better browser than Internet explorer.
But in start menu Firefox is showing but with safe mode in brackets next to it.
Then when I click on Firefox to go online then a pop up box appears saying the following:
Firefox is now running in safe mode, which temporarily disables your custom settings, themes and extensions.
You can make some or all of these changes permanent.
• Disable all add-ons
• Reset toolbars and controls
• Delete all bookmarks except for back ups
• Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults
• Restore default search engines
Make changes and restart Continue in safe mode Exit

I would be grateful if some could tell me what the above means and what I should do?
Also should I now un-install Internet Explorer and if yes how do I do that?
Thank you in advance for your help.

There should be 2 listed Firefox Safe Mode, and Firefox. The simple Mozilla Firefox is what you want.

Do not uninstall Internet Explorer, the two browsers run fine side by side. I have both, but I prefer Internet Explore each to his own!

When I click on start menu there is only Firefox (safe mode) in the menu. there is not another listing for Firefox separate.

Do you have a Firefox icon on your desktop (blue globe with orange fox draped round the bottom)

click on that to start Firefox.

if not try reinstalling Firefox.
