Firefox bookmarks vanishing

I have found recently that new bookmarks added to Firefox disappear when browser is next opened, yet older ones are still there after many months.
Any ideas please?? (WXP Pro)

try the old windows remember trick - load your new bookmark then click on file - exit. Restart firefox and see if it has remembered it.

This may help:click here

While not an answer to your specific problem a workaround is to install XMarks click here

Your bookmarks are then safely held on the XMarks server and can be restored from there even if you delete you profile and create a new one.

Howard64 - I tried that, but with no success.
Cocteau48 - I've now installed Xmarks, but still trying to find new folders.
Tks to both, anyway

Have you tried:
Documents and Settings/Your Name/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles.
Look for the HTML_BAK file and open in Firefox.
See in the links to your missing bookmarks are there.
