I've just noticed in Firefox 'Add-ons' that I have 'Java Console' 188.8.131.52.184.108.40.206.220.127.116.11.206.0.22It would appear that it doesn't delete old versions when it updates to new ones. Would it be safe to get rid of all except 6.0.22?
I would also check Add/Remove Programs and also remove earlier versions if any there. Finally it is a good idea to run the tool JavaRa to get rid off any leftovers from previous Java Runtime Environment versions.click here
Although I wish Java were more helpful. They say they recommend you uninstall all old Java software. But at the same time, on the same page, they also say that some programmes won't run without the old versions?! Clear as mud.ZakIf you believe Java it's both yes & no.
I have been deleting previous versions with no problems encountered so far because of an older version being required. If need be you can always install a previous version.
Thank you so much. I've never dared remove these. Now done so at 115Mb a pop!
Just realised that I have several Microsoft .NET Frameworks lying around, too, in Add/Remove programs. Can these be got rid of, too (horrid grammar and hijacking someone's thread, too! Sorry)
Microsoft .NET Frameworks should not be removed as all versions required and are updated by MS now and again.
This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
