Just on the off chance that some settings were changed go to Tools > Options > Web Features and ensure that both 'Enable [email protected] and 'Enable Javascript' boxes are both ticked.

THat should read 'Enable Java' It's an age thing.

Thanks for the reply.

I have checked that and both are ticked.

I recently had this problem and after trying everthing that everyone else had suggested, I had to repair my windows XP installation.

Long winded option but it was the only thing that worked for me.

Forgot to say the error message that I had was with a crossword ERROR: APPLET GRID NOTINITED.

Other than that it was just displaying little red crosses.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for that.

I don't really want to do that, only happened when upgraded to firefox 1.5, ok at older version.

I have an xp disc but when I boot from it I don't have the repair option, another issue.

I found a couple of problems using v 1.5 on certain forums, such as scroll bars not displaying, Went back to the previous version were everything worked ok

Ensure Java is up to date, if you've got the Sun version, look in Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_0x\bin
for a file called jucheck.exe and run it, will tell you if you need an update and download it for you.
