Finding codecs

  preston 20:14 30 Nov 2006

Whenever i download a film clip or a movie, most times if it is a mpg movie i have no problem playing it, but if it is a avi movie most times it wont playback. I use windows media player for playback. When i use wmp it needs to look for codecs, then it says that it cant find any and then i get playback but only get the sound and some default visuals. This also happens with the other media players. How do i find codecs that will allow me to see what i have downloaded.

Watch out where you download it from , reading something yesterday, Which warns of Virus or spyware being downloaded from the internet Via Codec packs,

It may be a decoder that you need, WMP does not supply one.
