Files Stuck in Recycle Bin

  Bullyboy 23:50 27 Apr 2005

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Due to me getting clever the other day, I read somewhere that lovely old Windows XP likes to distribute Temp Internet Files in six or so folders.
Well blah blah blah, it said you can delete these to free up disk space, so i did!
Now, these are stuck in Recycle bin, using about 1 gig worth of space and when i try and empty recycle bin i get a msg sayin

"Cannot delete imgres[1]: Cannot find the specified file.
Make sure you specify the correct path and file name,

Also, the folders are called things like UX30XSVQ, CTWHUFGT" etc etc, there are a few others.

Open Recycle Bin and Restore the files to the original location- if it will have it.

Then double click the My Computer icon, right click the C:\ drive icon, and select Properties.

Click Disk Cleanup and tick Temporary Internet Files, then click OK.

Another way is to right click on your Desktop, then New Folder. Drag this new folder to the Recycle Bin and then Empty Recycle Bin.

Hi Guys,
Tried both of these ideas and they dont work.

Tried selecting files and it comes up again saying that cannot find file etc.
Did the New Folder thing. This didnt do anything either.

Any more ideas?

Re-boot and as the Pc is starting keep tapping the F8 key & select 'Safe Mode'. you may be able to empty it then.
