files not there

can anybody tell me why when i add new hardware
ect printer and click on have disk the computer
always says no file for your hardware in E: or D:
and i know its there it drives me round the bend

Sometimes its simply that the file you guide it to is not the right one. For instance if you had a file on your computer that you had named say Epson 680 and pointed it to that it may not see it as the correct file as the file it needs is actually the next level below if you see what I mean.
When I had win98 I found it could be a real pain, I'd point it to the correct file and it would insist it wasn't the correct file and I'd have to install it another way to get round it, I don't have this problem on XP I hasten to add.

Might be wrong but this is my suggestion for why it happens.
