file system error 16389

Some help please firstly let me say i am no technical wizard so any help sould be as simple as possible.

I was trying to copy a file to my cd drive and i got the above message. It has been some time since I copied anything to the drive.

I am running XP home any help would be very much appreciated

What software are you trying to use to write to the CD?

Googling this gives two possible causes.

Firstly, are you trying to burn to DVD, using Windows native software, if so it won't work aa WinXP does not support burning to DVD.

Secondly, you have a virus, run a complete check using your AV utility.

Hi fruit bat i am trying to copy some excel files to thr cd when i try the message comes up that "the drive is not in use make sure a disc in in the drive" there is a disc in the drive which I have copied to before

Hi Klof Ron

I am trying to copy files to a cd in the cd drive not my DV drive

I have Virus checked and I appear to be Ok

When I keep trying to copy to the drive sometimes its starts as if it is about to copy then the message comes up that thre is not a disc in the drive which there is and have copied to it in the past
