File synchronisation software?

I have 2 laptops - 1 huge with massive screen and 2xHDs which is the heart of operations, but very heavy, and 1 small light machine with much smaller HD. They are networked together with CAT 5 crossover cable, both run Windows XP Pro, and share an internet broadband connection.

I want to be able to take the little one only when travelling, so I need software which will reliably synchronise my key files & folders between the two machines, maintaining the integrity of the data.

What is the best way of doing this?

Many thanks, as always, for your time and help!

you could use briefcase but better free stuff is available - there was a discussion of this subject about a week ago on here.

Sorry I missed the previous discussion - before posting, I did do searches on file synchronisation etc which didn't pull up any results.

Still can't find last week's discussion searching now - any tips on key words which would find it?!

Many thanks

That gives me something to work with - I really just wanted to know if anyone had experience of doing this and had found a really bulletproof programme!

Thanks for your help
