File swap space?

  Ziggymoon 20:44 13 Apr 2007

My son is trying to install a game and the message keeps coming up that we need '768mb of free file swap space'. We have freed a few gigs of space on the hard drive but the message keeps coming up. How can we free up file swap space on our pc. Any advice appreciated?

Hi, swap space is in effect Virtual Memory, tricking the game that you have more memory than you actually have. To increase the amount of Virtual Memory -

Right-click on My Computer, then left-click on Properties>Advanced>Performance>Advanced, then you will see near bottom of window Virtual Memory, click on Change and you can reset the amount of Virtual Memory.

The more free hard-drive space you have, the more Virtual Memory you can create.

PS - after you have made the change, Re-start your computer.
