File security

Hello all. I am running W2000 and am having a problem with secuirty on a folder I set up.

I made the folder (located on a central server, containing two word documents) read only. I have now gone back in and wish to make changes, after having taken it off of read-only.

It will now not let me make any changes or delete the files???? When i righ click the folder and look athe properties then select 'security', a message tells me - 'You only have permission to view the current owner on ,filename.'

Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Thanks :)

I assume you have administator rights.

Do you also have permission to modify a folder in both the shared permission and the NTFS permission?

The NTFS rights are what you would find under the security tab. The way determines if you can access a file or folder is by looking at the NTFS rights and the share rights and apply the MOST restrictive.
