file names have disapeared

many of the names/info of files in my folders have gone, if i click on the actual file i can see the name. this is mostly on photo's, windows and installed programme files. i have tryed doing disk clean ups, registry fix progs etc, but nothing has worked. any advice please

Check view, details, and see if the info is ticked for display.

yes it is, some files will have there names but some will be missing

Have you tried Tools/Folder Options/View/Reset All Folders?

Try this (extract from MS site)

"To turn off filenames, hold down the Shift key when you click to open a folder in Windows Explorer or when you switch into thumbnail view. This will turn of the file names, giving more space for the thumbnails. Doing it again turns them back on."
