File name changing.

It's the extensions that I'm having trouble with.
I've gone for MS Works 9 and dumped a competitor.
I have been looking for a simple bit of software where I can change the odd single file and bulk too.
The business of loading a file and doing a Save As dosn't work neither does renaming an extension from ***.doc to ***.wps.
Can someone advise me of some simple software please. Kindest regards Derek Miles.

Simples.
You cant - just changing the .xxx will sometimes work but not always. You may have to do a 'save as' or may find that you have to 'save as' a text file (the lowest common denominator)and then you will lose all the formating.

As the others say, you can't change file just by changing the extension. However, Microsoft on their web site offer many free converters from Works to Word and vice-versa. This may help
