Fax service has gone missing

OS XP home.
Until recently I had a fax program on my computer, then a couple of weeks ago, I disabled Microsoft Messenger and since then the fax has also gone. I can only assume that the fax service was available through Messenger.
Is there any way I can get this back, or is there another fax program I can use?

Control Panel\Add Remove Programs\Windows Componenets, place a check in Fax Services.

I tried this, but on the download it asks me to "Insert messenger disk into the drive" this I don't have, or at least I don't think so????

Have you tried inserting your XP installation disc? Messenger is installed from it so it should have the file that Windows is looking for.

I tried Marsh Warden © ™ advice - Windows requested me to insert Windows XP Service Pack 2 CD and search for file name fxsapi.dll

I browsed to the CD but Windows could not find the file - tried a few times but no luck.

The actual Fax Service program is 4.2MB in size according to Windows Components.
