Faulty Firewire

I have recently replaced my case and the new one comes with an in built Firewire port that plugs directly on to the motherboards usb pins. The problem is that Windows Xp thinks it is 2 Usb ports that don't work. how can i change this so it is read as a firewire port.

Do they really plug into USB headers? I would have thought they would plug into a Firewire header on the mobo - hence it thinks they are USB 2 ports.

Firewire and USB are not interchangeable. You should not connect any USB device to a firewire connector or the other way round. The power wires are differently arranged and this can destroy your device or part of your motherboard.

The only way to use firewire is to have a firewire connector or firewire PCI card on your machine.
