Faulty DVD on laptop

  molar 12:47 26 May 2009

The DVD on my Asus laptop ( Vista with 2Gb memory )worked fine until a few weeks ago when the playback of DVDs started to get a bit jumpy. It now is very jerky and the sound is out of synch with the picture. The DVDs all work perfectly on my wife's laptop.

I presume the player is faulty. Must I replace with another internal writer/player or can I buy an external player to play DVDs on the machine.
It will be a USB2 connection if this is a possibility.

As an aside, the sound on my desktop now only plays with iTunes. DVDs and Spotify are silent. Any ideas.

It sounds to me more like a driver problem than a hardware problem.

Go to the Asus website and download and install the sound drivers.

It could also be caused by Malware or too many programmmes running in the background.
