Hello guys,
i realized my pc has been infected with some sort of trojan or virus which Avast detects it anytime i restart or switch on the pc.I delete it but still comes up whenever i restart and is also slowing down the performance and acting.
I want to format and re-install the os but the cd-rom drive does not open. All connections intact when i double checked. It is in a LAN connected to the internet. Is there a way i can re-install with the cd?
Thank you guys very much for a responds.
The pc is a brand new six mnths old dell p3.thx

Do you mean it doesn't open automatically?
To open it manually just bend a paperclip straight and poke it carefully in the little hole on the front (about 1mm in dia). When you feel pressure just continue pushing gently and the drive will open sufficient for you to pull it gently all the way with your hand.

With regard to your infection, there are several free AV's you could d/l and run - A Squared to name one good one.

It will still be in the system estore files wich AVAst cannot heal.

Switch off system restore
scan with Avast.
let Avast repair or delete the infected files.
reboot the PC
Switch restore back on
Rescan with Avast to check the virus is gone.

Or do a boot scan with Avast; click here
