FAT32 and defrag & CHKDSK

Is it true that defrag and CHKDSK ,does not work well with FAT32 (XP).

NO. I use it on my Dual boot 98se and XP home it works just the same on Fat32. but Fat32 wastes Disc space using that file system. But to me it works faster

defrag ans chkdsk work fine with FAT32

But FAT32 can only handle files of a max of 4G

If your using both XP and WInME or earlier then you need a FAT32 drive but XP or later then its worth converting to NTFS

Hi woodchip,thanks for the reply.
I was looking through the various pages on the Microsoft web sites,there were updates to address issues with defrag and CHKDSK under FAT2.Must of miss read,many thanks again,cheers
