Family tree

Hi I use an old version 6.0 of "Family Tree Maker" I have had breakdown on my old computer which ran on XP. So I now have a new computer running Windows 7. I have backups of a great deal of work in FTM ,however the old installation disk will not load correctly....is there an update I could down load or a compatible program that would be OK with my saved backup disks ?
Thanks

These are the file formats used by Family Tree Maker -

FTM version 6 is "extremely" old and nothing earlier than version 11 is now supported. For more recent versions there are upgrade patches available to comply with Vista/Windows7.

Your present data files can be exported as .gedcom files and then I would install a new family tree program - there are one or two free ones available if you hunt around - and import into that.
