I use WOT - Web of Trust. Bear in mind this is not an exact science - there are others.

You should turn on any anti-phishing settings in whichever browser you use.

You could use a pre-prepared hosts file.

There is also Browser Defender - I use this and WOT (Web of Trust) on two seperate browsers.

Another option you may like a look at is the Calling ID toolbar click here

Maybe open the purse strings and get the full version of Emisoft anti Malware or for a one off payment Malwarebytes.
Any of those two will give you full time protection and will stop most nasties from downloading on to your computer when Browsing.
I use WOT which warns you of any bad sites but unfortunately things do get by it.
Thats why you need something with full time protection.

On the same lines...

Back in the days of Firefox 2 (I'm an FF user), there was an add-on toolbar called Spoofstick. It displayed the real details of the website address rather than any aliases. It was not updated when FF 3 was issued - though there was a workaround published (which I have lost :-((.

I miss it!

Has anyone found one that does the same Job in Firefox?
