Fair Usage...BREACHED!!!

Higuys..
Got an email this month saying we were 5Gb OVER the fair usage limit on our home BT broadband

I say "No way"!!!!

Has any one had this issue hit them,- for instance due to downloading AVG anti virus AND AVG ANTI spyware software?..(Which is the only thing I can think of that could be maxing out data flow).

Yes I know I could download a free meter to check whats happening..(and will probably do so)..My initial question though is how to access the log within the router(BT voyager)
Cheers guys for being there..

You could download all the AVG new versions and the upodates for a year and still get nowhere near 5GB..:-)

Perhaps someone else is using your system?

Easiest way to keep an accurate check on a daily and/or monthly basis is by using Tautology Bandwidth Meter (does as it says on the tin):

Accessing the router will be, most likely, by keying in:

192.168.1.1

into your browser window and then entering admin (or perhaps Admin) as both the Username and Password into the router's log on panel.

However it just might be slightly different in the case of the Voyager.

Hi, is you Router secured against outside usage, perhaps by a neighbour or someone with a laptop in a car outside.

Cheers stuartli..
Well No one is piggybacking off our system as its NOT wireless.

However..

How about this? Perhaps the 'Broadband line' that we have plugged into the router(acts like a separate phone line) is eating the usage policy. We use that line alot in the evenings as we have free calls through it...........?

Sorry I appear to have pressed 'refresh' twice.

Are you using a program like Bit-Torrent (P2P software), as this allows other users to access your machine and use your bandwidth ?.
