Hi,Tried a repair install of XP Media Edition, but it asked for the second disc.Is this the same problem as with sfc/scannow when its also asks for the second XP Pro disc?.Cheers
It may be looking for the i386 folder, holding the system files. With running sfc without the disc you will need to tell your computer you have the files on your PC. We do this is the registry (type regedit in the Run box on the start menu) by navigating to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SetupYou will see various entries here on the right hand side. The one we want is called:SourcePathIt probably has an entry pointing to your CD-ROM drive, and that is why it is asking for the XP CD. All we need to do is change it to:C:\Simply double click the SourcePatch setting and a new box will pop up allowing you to make the change. Now restart your computer and type into run cmd, then in command box type sfc /scannow (note space). You may have to do the same for a repair install but I'm not sure of the registry source path for that.
thanks for the help michaelw, did as you stated, still the same.Have decided for a fresh install. Its the best way..Thank you again.Cheers
