Extracting file from XP on a hard disc + caddy

  JYPX 22:47 23 Mar 2011

I have a sata hard drive on which xp is installed in the C partition and a number of folders in the E partition. I want to put this drive in a usb caddy and then locate an important file which resides on the E partition. Do I need any special software to find and extract this file or will Windows xp be able to see Xp installed on the extenal drive? I have Treesize Pro if that would do the job. I would like to know if this is possible before I buy the caddy. Thanks.

Windows Explorer should enable you to find it Ok , otherwise you can do a search for a key word or the file's actual name , all supposing the caddy does it's job and the hdd is visible and the files aren't hidden
