Extra memory

  Crazy legs 13:22 25 Dec 2007

Hi, my laptop is running slowly at the moment and is in need of some extra memory. There's a problem though, I went on to the crucial.com website and used the scanning tool to see what maximum memory the laptop holds, it say's there are two slots, one is empty but the maximum amount of memory I can stock is 256MB which is what's in it already.

Would I be able to use like an external hard drive for more memory at all to try'n speed it up or am I restriced to just that?

Crazy legs can you please post the exact model of your laptop? There is often a sticker underneath the unit with the model number and name.

As for external drives sadly no such thing exsists. However if your system is limited to a max of 256mb you could easily pick up a decent laptop for under £100 that would improve your specs.

Sorry, the Laptop is a Packard Bell EasyNote R1000 and the serial number is 558001140237.

Thanks for the help, don't know why it say's the maximum it will hold is 256mb on the crucial website and 1024mb on the Packard Bell site, strange.
