I wanna get an external USB HDD for backing up my data.

Does anyone know the largest amount of space I can get without the need for a seperate mains adapter? I want the whole thing powered from the USB. The most i've seen is about 80GB

Think that to power from USB you may need to use two USB connections.

Please forgive me if you know this already ...
I bought an external HD to copy valuable data on to as a form of back-up. Great idea - except that other software glitches not connected with the HD, and resulting in me having to restart the computer - have resulted in the data being rendered inaccessible TWICE. Don't rely on it on your ONLY back-up. Back-up using other formats as well.

I'm liking the look of those Freecom drives. Especially since on some sites they come included with Acronis which seems highly recommended here
