External HD... BIG problem

Guys, I have a External My Book Drive. I turned my computer on this morning and have found that the my book has changed from the name "media file" (which i named it, to "local drive" and i cant access it? Have I lost everything on it or can it be fixed?

Have you removed any partitions on this drive ?

Try using Testdisk for now and recover the data, click here

Hmm, Local Drive is normally the name given to your main Internal drive C:

So what is your C: drive named?

We had a power cut this morn just for about 2 mins, I was playing music off the external HD. So i think ive lost it, im just formatting it and will start loading all my music onto it. I have tryed the disck recovery tolls before and find them more hasstle than they are worth.

Even after a format,you can regain some if not all the data.
