Try LaCie 250gb External, maybe from Dabs, I find that mine works extremely well and I have no grouses about it.I believe that it is a lot cheaper now than when I bought it!

just bought a Seagate 300g from Maplins for £99. Great looker and very nice. Comes with backup software at the push of a button.
Hope that helps.

Put me down on the Seagates, had a load of seagate drives in the past. Picked up another on dabs 320gb external and it should arrive any day soon. Never had a problem with seagate. Also when I was at apple computers they tended to use LaCie for backup purposes in departments as well as server backups.

If you can wait dabs can be a life saver for your cash.

Fingers crossed mine is AOK when it arrives.

and I using Dantz as a Back-up system.
Everything has gone smoothly, so far.

However I have not needed to do a Restore yet, with any luck I never will.

Very happy with the drive. It replaces a Maxtor X5000 which got dropped after about 4 years service.
