Just a quick question -

I'm looking to get this external hard drive click here
seems to have had good reviews and fits my budget.

Am i correct that when connected it will show as an additional hard drive for me to search? Also, will it be accessible via a wireless home network? I want to be able to move things from my laptop to the hard drive, as well as access it through my desktop.

Thanks

The external drive would most probably show as F:.

You may have to share a folder on the drive for it to be seen over the network?

I have looked at the site- Western Digital - it says a USB drive.
It does not mention how it is powered.
This is crucial it best that an external device is self powered internally or by a 'power Brick'and not to rely on the Computer's PSU, as this can affect the machine performance as extra loads are put upon it.
That apart- it will be simply another rive and wireless operation is to the computer not the peripheral.

From what i have read it has its own power supply, and connects via USB.

jack - are you saying that i would not be able to access the external drive at all? Or just via my PC that it is connected to?

I don't think I implied any of that.
The drive when connected to an XP machine will display in 'My Computer' as a new drive using the next available letter.
Then only thing that concerned me was from whence its power was derived.
Best not via USB

Cheers for the clarification.

My main concern was accessing the drive on the network. If i can do that great.

Thanks all
