I'm looking to get this external hard drive click here seems to have had good reviews and fits my budget.
Am i correct that when connected it will show as an additional hard drive for me to search? Also, will it be accessible via a wireless home network? I want to be able to move things from my laptop to the hard drive, as well as access it through my desktop.
I have looked at the site- Western Digital - it says a USB drive. It does not mention how it is powered. This is crucial it best that an external device is self powered internally or by a 'power Brick'and not to rely on the Computer's PSU, as this can affect the machine performance as extra loads are put upon it. That apart- it will be simply another rive and wireless operation is to the computer not the peripheral.
Jack - are you saying that i would not be able to access the external drive at all? Or just via my PC that it is connected to? -----------------o0o---------------------- I don't think I implied any of that. The drive when connected to an XP machine will display in 'My Computer' as a new drive using the next available letter. Then only thing that concerned me was from whence its power was derived. Best not via USB
