External hard drive on differing voltages

  jacksony 11:58 06 May 2006

Hi there,

Do you know of an external hard drive I could buy, around 50 GB or so, that would work on both UK 240V and Japanese 100V.

I know I could use a transformer to change the voltage, but if there is a hard drive that cuts out this middle man that would be great.

Many thanks

Most external hard drive power supplys will take a 100-240v variable supply.

A cleaner solution might be to go for a USB powered one, cutting out the need for a mains supply. Some of these can be found click here and click here
