External Hard Drive Advice

Hello - I have recently installed an external USB HDD for the purpose of backing up after reading €d Stowe's "boring article". I have my image "imaged" and incremental schedules set up, the question is: Do you leave the drive on so it becomes part of the whole system or do you turn it off until required, I know loads of forum members have this type of drive and just wondered how the majority use them.

If required very occasionally switch it off by all means. I too have a USB hard disk and for the same reason, well, maybe other files I wish to store off the main disk too!

It's not necessary for it to stay on if you have no intention of using it, but if you do use it pretty often then I'd advise leaving it on.
