External Hard Drive

please can you good people advise me what I need to look for when buying a External Hard Drive for use with my Desktop PC or laptop (if possible)for backing up photos documents ect,and your
recommendation's please.

Presumably you'll connect it via a USB2 port.Buy the largest capacity you can afford.You tend to get better value in terms of pence per Gigabyte if you go for a large one. Maxtor, Western Digital, La Cie and Seagate are all worth looking at, spoilt for choice really.

I prefer Freecom drives, no faffing around turning switches on and off. Start the PC and the drive switches on, turn PC and the drive switches off.
