I have a Belkin wireless router that is cabled to my desktop and my downstairs laptop receives OK via wireless. My father lives nextdoor in a shared cottage and now has a laptop that will receive wireless. Trouble is walls are very thick and block signal strength. I can cable run from my Belkin through the loft area to next door, but what should I put on the end of the Cat5 in order to get a signal?

Once you terminate the cable run with a face plate.

You would need to run a cable to his computer.

Or if wireless is required, you would need a wireless AP to send your signal into your fathers house, with your wireless set to channel 1, 6 or 11, and your Dads set to one of the other ones (1, 6 or 11).

Thanks Techguy. Gr8 feedback. Why set to 1, 6 or 11? Just like to know.
