Explorer won`t open .com sites

IE6 running on XP Pro via a local area network and ADSL modem router. I can access all .co.uk sites but not anything that has .com. For example theaa.com, yell.com or even bt.com

I can access these from another machine on the network or indeed the server so what`s changed all of a sudden? It`s been nearly a week now and I don`t remember anything out of the ordinary.

Any suggestions for me for tomorrow morning?

Could be the hosts file?

Hosts file says this:

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

Which I think is normal.

Actually Only the server running Winproxy can access .com sites. None of the other machines can.

Incidentally I can`t find a file called hosts on the server. This is weird - any other suggestions gratefully accepted.

Found the hosts file - strange that a search didn`t locate it initially.

Bump

Sorted - It was a setting in Winproxy on the server that was needed. Theory that Pipex have changed their webcache settings recently though. This setting was never required before.
