Explorer windows to open showing folders pane

I know that the solution to this was in a recent edition of PC Advisor, but after applying it I tore the page out, gave it away and now it's gone!

On my desktop I have a shortcut to a folder on my network. When I double-click on the shortcut I would like the folder to open in windows explorer, but with the folders pane already pre-selected on the left, rather than having to select it from the button at the top of the window.

Can anyone remember how to do this, or can some kind soul look it up from the recent PC Advisor in which the solution appeared?

Many thanks,
Stuart Reid

I don't know if it is the same with a network shortcut, but with Windows Explorer itself, this is achieved by adding /e to the shortcut path to give:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e

It then opens with "C" drive expanded in the left pane, instead of the blue "System Tasks".

That didn't work very well.

Just type 307856 into google and take the link entitled:

How To Customize the Windows Explorer Views in Windows XP
