In a recent copy of PC Advisor there was IE6 which i used as it was a newer version than IE% which is what I was using, since using IE6 i've found that when i go onto a site(any site) a lot of the information is no longer there and instead is replaced by little squares which contain red crosses, as I didn't alter anything else I can't understand what has happened or how to correct it,is there something in preferences etc which could be the cause?

Go to internet options and try a lower security setting.... if no luck there, It *might* be that you need java to be installed/reinstalled

I thought that it was something to do with:

Tools/Internet Options/Advanced then scroll down and make sure that 'show pictures' is ticked.

You can always untick it if it's not the cure.

Following up Halmer's suggestion (which is the most likely cause) you may well find that other boxes need to be checked or unchecked, according to your requirements.
