Explatory labels, just like pop-ups.

When I put the mouse on to, say, an icon, I get a varying length descriptive label telling me all about the function of the icon. Is there any way, please, of stopping this happening?
Very grateful for any help.

Tried that, got to "show info tip" ( No show windows tip) tried to change the value but couldn't. Thanks anyway, I'll persevere.

I tried again the first way and it's worked this time. I'm fairly light touching the keyboard so I all but belted it this time and it worked .Thanks a million.
X7-250. I'm going to try your way later because I still get the same thing from the notification area icons.
Thanks for your help too, much appreciated.

I'm glad it worked for you, but for me, it's essential. Tool-tips can often show what the file is when not sure, especially with certain types of files.
I always have 'show hidden files extentions' showing as well as folders.
Each to their own but good to see you're sorted.
