I have recently transferred all of my Excel documents from XP PC to Windows 7 PC and I am unable to edit or copy and rename many of these as they are stated to be "Read Only" I have checked the Properties "Security" and they are not listed as "Read Only" Please advise what is going on and how I can recover access to these documents.

Firstly, do you have Excel installed on your W7 PC.

Open the spreadsheet. Click on File and select Info, You should be able to remove the permissions there (I hope).
