Excel workbook saved twice - linked

Saved an excel workbook as qtr2 and this is what shows in the file list. On opening the workbook, 2 identical workbooks open. One is called qtr2:1 and the other qtr2:2. On entering data into either workbook, identical changes are made in the other. On saving, they both close and the only saved file showing is again qtr2. Anybody any ideas as to what is happening here and how to remove one workbook without losing both?

Answer

You have two windows (views) of the file.

In either window, click the grey close button, then save the file.
