Hi, I need to be able to count the rows in an excel spreadsheet that match 2 conditions.

I've tried sumproduct & countif

=SUMPRODUCT((Edited!D:D="x")*(Edited!E:E="y"))
=COUNTIF((Edited!D:D="x")*(Edited!E:E="y"))

hope this is clear & thanks in advance for any help.

Unless you are using Excel 2007 you can't use whole column references with SUMPRODUCT. Just make sure that each range is the same size. Also -- is less 'expensive' for coercion than *.

Try

=SUMPRODUCT(--(Edited!D1:D1000="x"),--(Edited!E1:E1000="y"))
